Bharatanatyam, an oldest dance form originated in Tamil Nadu and it is prevailing many centuries. The most traditional art form globally is Bharatanatyam. Bharatanatyam is a very auspicious, elegant and yet most beautiful form of dance art which has all the parts of the dance form in its name by itself. Where “Bha” means Bhavam (expressions), “Ra” means Ragam (music) and “Natyam” means dance. This is combinations of music, dance and the most importantly the expressions and emotions. This dance is expressed beautifully not only to show love and devotion to God but also expresses every emotion through the mudhras. The traditional path of learning the beautiful and expressive dance form Bharatanatyam involves Guru Namaskar, Adavus, Nadana Urupadigal & Mudras, Thaalam, History of Bharatanatyam and which would be followed with Salangai Pooja and then proceeded with Arangetram. Here at Nrittayoga, we provide complete guidance through experienced teachers and follow the traditional gurukula path of learning Bharatanatyam.

The formal path of learning Bharatanatyam applies to the students who wish to learn the art form, provided with our Institute Certification and also other University recognized certificates & degrees as per students’ requirements. This helps the students who aspire to become a professional in this field. Nrittayoga provides you all the guidance to enroll and complete the formal dance education.

Nrittayoga provides the Bharatanatyam classes in a traditional way for their students who enrol for teacher training programs. It is designed in a way that students will be given complete knowledge on adavus, nadana urupadigal, theory of bharatanatyam and many more. Mainly natuvangam training is given to students, since a guru is the one who plays thalam for his or her student. This program if taken as part time learning, one can complete the course in 2 years. We provide classroom experience on teaching students for a minimum of 6 months so that by the time they complete the course they will have the confidence to take classes.
